Chimney Tops Trail
The Chimney Tops trail is said to be one of the most strenuous treks in the Great Smokey Mountains with altitude gains of 1,400 feet in about 2 miles. The trail offers stunning views even though the summit is no longer accessible. The beginning of the trail is where I took the reference photo for this painting. Located just below the parking area, this is the first of three water crossings on the trail. Arriving well before sunlight, I was able to make my way to the bridge and scout where to setup to get the photos I wanted. I explored many angles and have some other photos that I liked as well. This one stood out to me with the mixture of the small falls, many rocks including those to support the foot bridge as well as the foliage in the background. Speaking of the rocks, I really didn't realize just how many rocks were in the photo until I started working on this painting. I spent many hours just trying to paint all the different rocks and make them all look fairly real.

Bald River Falls
Painting of the beautiful Bald River Falls in Tellico, TN. I grew up traveling to the small fishing village on River Road on the Tellico river. The scenery on this road is just beautiful with Bald River Falls being one of the high lights. At approximately 100' tall, these falls create a spectacular view especially in the fall. It is a popular spot to not only marvel in it's beauty, but also a spot to take a dip for many. However, the falls themselves are quite slippery and have lured many of the more adventurous to attempt to traverse only to result in accidents and injuries over the years. There is also a trail that climbs to the top and leads further back into the national forest resulting in more smaller waterfall opportunities.
This painting was a bit of a challenge as I had never tried to paint flowing water like this image taken with a long exposure. That coupled with the wet rocks and variety of leave made this a fun painting to work on.

Fishing on the Hiwassee River - I took this photo of a fisherman enjoying the morning waters of the Hiwassee river near Reliance, TN. Many years later I decided to do a painting from the original photo.

I created this painting many years ago for my wife. This is the little chapel at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, GA and is actually where my wife and I were married.

Cades Cove in the Smokie Mountains near Gatlinburg, TN is a beautiful place to not only see an abundance of wildlife, you also get to travel back in time looking at all the barns, homes, grist mill and churches from years ago. You can drive or bike the 10 mile loop, or you can choose to do a horse ride through the cove. I captured this image at the end of the day as the horses were let out to open pasture for the evening.

This painting started as a picture that my cousin took while on vacation at the beach. It was simply a peaceful setting of a Path leading to the beach.

Couple in Love
I know what you may be thinking, "is that Hulk Hogan?". Well, it is not, it is a couple our family knows and this guy has the biggest heart. He created a charity for children where he raised money for various families by raffling off a golf cart, or an atv and even a motorcycle just to help support the families.

Jimi Hendrix Painting
I created this work of Jimi just for myself. Always enjoyed his abilities with the guitar so I wanted to do a painting of him playing. Referenced from a photo I found online.

Stevie Ray Vaughn
Stevie's musical ability on the guitar was truly amazing to watch. It really appeared like the music just flowed from his finger tips. I'm always amazed to see him play. Such a tragedy that his life and career were cut short way too early.

Eric Clapton Painting
I really couldn't do a series of paintings of guitar players without creating one of "Slow Hand" himself, Eric Clapton. It just so happens that I now get to listen to my son play most of Eric's music as he is a huge Clapton fan. In fact, all of these paintings have ended up in his music room.

Joe Bonamassa
Painting of Joe Bonamassa in concert at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, GA. I took several photos during the concert, but captured this as he was playing a tribute to one of his band members that had just passed away early that very day. There was a lot of emotion going on in this song and I tried my best to capture it in this painting. I don't have this painting anymore as it was shipped off to Joe B.
